Aftercare / General guidanceFCTS / EDITION 01

The session ends.The healing begins.

This is general baseline guidance. Your artist's instructions for your work, placement, skin response, and dressing remain the primary reference.

01 / THE BASICS

Gentle, clean, patient

Care without panic.

Healing does not mean the area can never touch water. Distinguish gentle cleaning from soaking, swimming, excessive sweat, and friction.

01

Follow the dressing plan

Do not remove or replace the dressing earlier or later than your artist advises.

02

Wash gently

Use clean hands, clean water, and the recommended product; do not scrub.

03

Pat dry

Dry by patting gently with a clean material instead of rubbing.

04

Use aftercare as directed

A layer that is too thick—or an unapproved product—can irritate the skin.

05

Do not pick

Let dry skin or flakes release naturally; do not scratch or peel.

06

Protect the area

Avoid direct sun, rubbing clothes, dirty surfaces, and repeated touching.

02 / AVOID FOR NOW

Reduce irritation and contamination

Let the skin do its work.

Exact timing varies with the work and your artist's instructions.

01

Soaking / swimming

Avoid baths, pools, the sea, saunas, and excessive water during early healing.

02

Intense exercise

Avoid the gym and intense exercise for around two weeks, especially activity that causes sweat, stretching, or friction.

03

Direct sun

Keep it away from direct sunlight for now. Long-term protection helps preserve the work.

04

Scratching / peeling

Do not scratch, peel, or force a scab to come away.

05

Unapproved products

Do not apply alcohol, perfume, scrubs, or other products without your artist's direction.

03 / WHEN TO ESCALATE

Artist support is not a medical diagnosis

Listen to the body.

Contact your artist if you are unsure about healing or the dressing. Seek medical help if symptoms feel severe, worsen, spread, include a fever, excessive pain, or any other concerning sign.

Common questions

Keep it clear.

01Can a new tattoo get wet?

Gentle cleaning with clean water is usually part of aftercare. Avoid prolonged soaking, swimming, saunas, and excessive water exposure. Follow the timing and products recommended by your artist.

02Can I exercise after a tattoo?

Sweat, stretching, and friction can irritate the new area. Avoid the gym or intense exercise for around two weeks, or follow your artist's direction—especially for placements that move or rub frequently.

03What if it feels itchy or starts peeling?

Mild itching and peeling can happen during healing. Do not scratch or pick it. Contact your artist if you are unsure; if symptoms are severe, spreading, or accompanied by illness, seek medical care.

04When can it be exposed to sunlight?

Avoid direct sun during the initial healing phase. Once healed, UV protection helps preserve the tattoo; follow your artist's recommendation about when protective products can be introduced.
